In Situ EXAFS Study of Sr Adsorption on TiO2(110) under High Ionic Strength Wastewater Conditions

چکیده
In order to provide important details concerning the adsorption reactions of Sr, batch and a set both ex situ in Grazing Incidence X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (GIXAFS) experiments were completed on powdered TiO2 rutile(110), reacted with either SrCl2 or SrCO3 solutions. sorption capacity for strontium (Sr) ranges from 550 ppm (SrCl2 solutions, second kinetics) 1400 (SrCO3 first kinetics), respectively, is rapid. Sr decreased as function chloride concentration but significantly increased carbonate concentrations increased. presence carbonate, ability remove solution increases by factor ~4 due rapid epitaxial surface precipitation an thin film, which registers itself rutile(110) strontianite-like phase (d-spacing 2.8 Å). Extended (EXAFS) results suggest initial attachment via tetradental inner-sphere adsorption. Moreover, adsorbates concentrated solutions contain hydroxyl species, inner- outer-sphere explains reduced these systems. These not only new insights into kinetics also valuable information potential improvements effluent water treatment models are pertinent developing methods rutile-coated structural materials within nuclear power plants.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
EXAFS Study of Sr sorption to Illite, Goethite, Chlorite, and Mixed Sediment under Hyperalkaline Conditions.
Strontium is an important contaminant radionuclide at many former nuclear sites. This paper investigates the effect of changing pH and ionic strength on the sorption of Sr to a range of common soil minerals. Specifically it focuses on the sorption of Sr onto illite, chlorite, goethite, and a mixed sediment. The interplay between ionic strength and pH was determined by varying the background ion...

The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...
